How Kinda. came to be

We’re a regenerative organisation rooted in Northern Tasmania – connecting people, families, and businesses to practical tools, trusted community, and real next steps for living and working differently.

Where it started

How Kinda. came to be.

Kinda. didn't start with a business plan. It started with a feeling.

Something was missing from the way sustainability was being talked about and practised. Too much guilt. Too much complexity. Not enough humanity, and not enough acknowledgment that most people are just trying to do their best with what they have.

The idea was simple: slow things down enough for real connection, shared learning, and practical action to take root. Make sustainability feel local and doable – not just for people with the time and resources to do it perfectly, but for everyone. That feeling became a framework. A framework became a community. And a community became the Kinda. Ecosystem.

From the Founder

Even as a child, I cared deeply for others – door-knocking for every cause I could find, from Amnesty International to Red Nose Day and everything in between. That early sense of care has grown with me, expanding into a love for people, places, and the planet.

After years of working in jobs that didn’t align with who I was, I wanted more – something meaningful that could give back. Losing both of my parents just two years apart changed everything I understood about the world. It taught me about fragility and resilience, about belonging, and the quiet power of hope.

In the seasons that followed, I found myself drawn back to the places that held memory – gardens, rivers, and wild spaces that grounded me when everything else felt uncertain. Becoming a solo parent added another layer: a chapter of both challenge and deep gratitude, and a reminder that love and presence can build a life as steady as any plan.

Returning to study – a double degree in Design and Sustainability – helped it all click into place. Creativity, empathy, and environmental care no longer felt separate; they became one living practice.

Kinda. grew from that place. A blend of curiosity, courage, and care. It’s more than a business or a framework. It’s a way of bringing all parts of life together – and an invitation for others to do the same.
